Knitting goodness courtesy of the Handmakers Factory
I received a very lovely email today from Leisl, one of the co-founders of the Handmakers factory telling me that I'd won their Yarn + Co giveaway, a gorgeous I-Pad cover knitting kit. How lucky am I?!
Now, I'm not a knitter (I can knit but I'm not very good at it) but I have long been inspired by those who can so this could be just the thing to get me started.
If you haven't heard of the Handmakers Factory you should go and check them out immediately. The idea is to create an online community for crafty folk, with a focus on upskilling and sustainability so that there is less reliance on mass-produced sweatshop clothes. It certainly ticks all the boxes for me: promoting ethical and sustainable approaches to fashion, lots of creative ideas and tips, for sewists, knitters and repurposers (if that is indeed a word), beautiful photography. You can even create an account which lets you can upload your own creations (yes, the red Belladone is making an appearance), or just get inspired by others. I believe there are future plans to offer classes too.
I eagerly await my little parcel of knitting goodness and will keep you posted on progress. Thanks again Handmakers Factory!
